지난 1년 간 5명의 친구들과 함께 모의유엔(Model United Nation)동아리를 진행했다. 코로나19의 상황으로 동아리 활동을 전부 비대면으로 하기로 결정해서 조금 걱정되기도 했지만, 실제로 진행하면서 친구들이 적극적으로 참여해주었기 때문에 별 어려움 없이 즐겁게 활동할 수 있었다. 온라인으로 만나서 조금 낯설었던 ‘유엔’에 대해 자세히 알아보았고, 그 후 모의유엔의 절차와 진행 규칙에 대해 하나하나 알아보며 실제로 활동하면서 이를 습득했다. 모의유엔 동아리에서 1년 간 다룬 주제는 “전 세계 학생들을 위한 더 나은 교육방안과 개선할 점을 모색하자" 였다. 친구들은 각각 한 나라의 대표가 되어 그 나라의 교육방식에 대해 탐구해보고 정리하는 시간을 가졌다. 특히 캐나다 대표를 맡은 친구가 조사했던 캐나다의 교육방식 중 하나(캐나다는 각 지역(주) 별로 지역적, 환경적 특성에 맞는 각기 다른 교육을 진행하고 있다)가 인상 깊었다. 각자 조사한 것을 바탕으로 주장을 담은 연설문을 작성했고, 영어 단어와 표현을 검토해보며 첨삭하는 과정을 거쳤다. 본격적으로 연설문의 내용을 바탕으로 회의를 할 때에는 실시간 회의 앱을 이용하거나 영상 파일 등을 함께 공유하면

중학교 생활의 마침표를 의미 있게 찍고 싶어서 친구들과 지식과 우정을 쌓을 동아리를 결성하기로 했다. 그렇게 하여 5명의 친구들과 모의유엔을 열었다. 모의유엔이란 쉽게 말해 실제 UN의 회의 방식을 따라 한 나라를 대표하는 대사가 되어 전 세계적으로 대두되고 있는 안건에 대해 토의하고 해결방안을 찾아가는 활동이다. 우리 모의유엔 동아리는 활동을 통해 부원들의 영어 스피킹과 독해, 쓰기 실력을 높이는데 목표를 두고 있다. 따라서 이에 맞춰 영어 관련 다양한 활동들을 계획했다. 이번 모의유엔의 주제는 “전 세계 학생들을 위한 교육방안과 개선할 점을 찾자.” 로 정했다. 모두 학생으로서 이 주제에 대해 큰 흥미를 나타냈다.활동 초반에 각자 맡고 싶은 나라를 정하고 각각 핀란드, 캐나다, 미국, 스웨덴, 한국의 대표 역할을 맡았다. 현재 모의유엔을 진행하기 위해 각자 맡은 나라의 교육방식을 조사하고, 좋은 점과 문제점을 구별해 연설문을 작성하고 있다. 막상 연설문을 작성하려고 하니 어려워하는 친구도 있었다. 그러나 서로 협력하면서 모르는 영어 표현들은 알려주고 첨삭해주니, 친구들 모두 연설문 작성에 적응해나갔다. 덕분에 영어 실력이 오르는 것 같다고 자신감을 표현해
지난 28일, 정평중학교의 4교시 끝을 알리는 종소리와 함께 학생들은 차례로 줄을 서 복도로 배달된 도시락을 가지러 갔다. 급식실 수리로 인해, 급식실 이용이 불가능해지자, 학교에서는 외부 위탁급식 업체에 급식 도시락을 배달시킨 것이다. 도시락은 기존 학교의 급식과 비슷하게 균형잡힌 식단으로 구성되어 있었다. 도시락 안에 일 인분씩 포장되어 있어서, 따로 밥과 국 등을 배식할 필요가 없었다. 따라서 급식실로 가는 시간, 재식을기다리는 시간등이 줄어들어서 예전보다 더 편리해졌다고 말하는 학생들도 많다. 또한 도시락 통의 형태도 색달랐다. 도시락 통은 일회용품이 아닌 친환경 소재로 만들어졌기 때문에 환경 문제에 대해서도 걱정할 필요없이 모두가 안심할 수 있었다. 교실에서 도시락을 먹게 된 것에 대해서 박주영 학생(3학년 6반)은 “개인 책상에서 먹으니까 책상에 음식물을 흘리면, 책상이 지저분해 져 닦아야 하는 불편함과 교실에서 음식 냄새가 가득차는 불편함이 있다. 그래도 도시락 배식줄이 짧아서 더 빨리 먹을 수 있게 된 것은 정말 좋다!”라고 했다. 또 임도현 학생(3학년 5반)은 “미리 도시락이 복도에 준비되기 때문에 급식이 조금 식는다는 단점이 있지만, 코로
